Fortified foods have nutrients added that were not present before processing. Many breakfast cereals are fortified with 100% of the Daily Value for nutrients. You may be able to skip the vitamin pill by having a fortified cereal for breakfast or for snack. If you do need a supplement, take it with or after meals to optimize absorption. Vitamins tend to work best together with other nutrients.
